How Licensing Works for Our Products


License Types

  • Node-locked: working on a single machine. The license is locked to the hardware of a specific machine and cannot be transferred unless under exceptional circumstances.
  • Floating: license working on a license server. This license can be used by any machine within the same network of the license server.

Our licenses

  • AtomsRT: this license is used for realtime (RT) softwares such as Unreal Engine. The license is used only when shipping and working within the Unreal editor. No license is needed once your game/app is shipped.
  • AtomsVFX: this license is used by VFX softwares like Maya and Houdini.
  • AtomsFramework: for VFX softwares, like Maya and Houdini, this license can used used for: Standalone Python/C++ APIs, AtomsMaya/AtomsHoudini batch sessions, running commands
    For RT softwares, like Unreal, this license can used for: viewing a simulation in realtime in the editor, although the simulation cannot be changed.
  • AtomsProcedural: for VFX softwares, like Maya, Houdini, Katana, Clarisse and Gaffer, this license is used for: rendering and creating the AtomsProxy node.
    For RT softwares, like Unreal, this license can used for: rendering in headless mode.
